                                                                 Ayn Rand, My Reference

Ayn Rand gave me validation on what I know is in conjunction with reality. I know now therefore living on this earth is understandable and its purpose is happiness. Happiness is doing what I like without restrictions, harming no one nor allowing others from harming me. Ayn Rand resolved the idea of an objective philosophy for me as a guide for living happily. That thinking is our free will to choose and emotions is what we are but not necessarily real, hence act via reasoned thinking strictly.
                                                                 Food as Nutrition
Foods that we eat sustain us, satisfy us, keep us alive but the idea here's foods that not only sustain us but keep us strong till the very end of our lives, nutritious foods.
                                                                 Healthy Fats
Eat healthy fats, no matter how we've been brainwashed, fats are vitally important for our body/brain. It's, (fat), been vilified so much so that it's nearly impossible to find today as well as being looked upon as the bad food. For an easy healthy fat fix, the Bulletproof Exec created his instamix product.  An easy way of obtaining that vital healthy fat daily intake. I carry it with me for coffee making or addition to a vinaigrette dressing for salads when on the road. If you're into juicing then add as it's good tasting. It might just be the healthy fat solution for you, too?
Here are Sources of Healthy Fats
Meats, plus all their fats, too, from grass-fed or pastured animals only, 100% grass-fed ideally and their bones for broth or soups.
Fish, wild caught and never farmed.
Butter from grass-fed animals.
Avocados, of course, An Avocado A Day Beat's An Apple Any-day. AAADBAAA
Nuts but find the raw and bake it yourself.
Coconuts.
Eggs from pastured hens.
Oils from coconuts, MCTs for a no coconut flavor oil, Olive oils, extra virgin and only if you trust the manufacturer as lots of fakes. Just avoid processed oils, the veggie hydrogenated oils all together must be thrown away. Those oils, (Veggie Hydrogenated Oils), are generally used in those nuts so buy raw nuts also used in fast food french fries so avoid french fries or popcorn unless you make it yourself with coconut, mct, avocado or olive oils with lots of grass-fed butter and or ghee and again grass-fed. Ghee, BTW, doesn't burn as quickly as butter does so cooking with it's best.
Eliminate sugars, the toxin itself. Avoid fructose, the villain as well, like in apple juice or orange juice. You'll see, HFCS, (High Fructose Corn Syrup), as an ingredient in most processed foods and avoid them all. HFCS's even found in peanut butter or any breads at the supermarket. HFCS's used as fat's been removed rendering foods bland and tasting like cardboard. Teri, make's the best peanut butter ever but of course using raw almonds that she runs through a food processor till creamy. If you really care download the best food chart, Best Food Chart.
                                                Vegetables, The Good
Fruits minimize and eat berries if you must.
                                                 Cholesterol Is The Good
Also, cholesterol associated with fats and eggs, hogwash! Dr. Perlmutter on Cholestoral
                                                The Good, Coffee!
Only been drinking coffee a few years but it's the best thing I've ever done, surely a super food. I'm of course talking about the BPC coffee as breakfast food.and the only meal, ought to say nutrition I need till late lunch and occasionally till dinner as I do not get hungry till then. Satiety factor's the key thus those evil hunger pangs conquered, resulting in optimum weight, naturally and healthy, a win, win.
                                                  The Good, Vitamin D
Need supplementation as most are deficient, about 1000 IU per 25 lbs of adult weight daily.                                                                    The Bad, Sugar!
I heard a scientist say that sugar's more addictive than cocaine, so you see the epidemic, also, hidden sugars in most processed foods, starches. Avoid the killer, sugar! Substitute Stevia, my fave or other tree based sugars like Xylitol. Grains too are not a health food, avoid.
                                                        Exercise
The human body's mainly made up of 2 major muscle fiber groups, the fast twitch and slow twitch. Of course, we've become an aerobic-crazed, sheep society and see that as the ultimate exercise regimen? Well, wait a minute now, most if not all aerobic exercises neglect the fast twitch muscle fibers. Therefore, you see how only half of our bodily muscle fibers are being exercised, the slow twitch but the fast twitch neglected and so it atrophies. So, we age faster and we get weaker and weaker because we don't know and neglect the fast twitch muscle fibers, they're anaerobic. I want to scream it, "what about the fast twitch muscle fibers stupid?"  Not easy to reach those fast twitch muscle fibers. There's Super Slow Exercise by Dr. McGuff. Another's KAATSU which I do a variation daily just for those neglected fast twitch muscle fibers.

Hope to have encapsulated a complex system of getting healthy to those unsatisfied with their health. Yes, mental health, Ayn Rand and physical health, this blog. I didn't add anything new really but reinforcing my original research findings even more so, do your own biohacking as it's your health? There's the microbiome but that's going to be good with the food mentioned here.  OK, time will tell but I just want to be as happy and strong for as long as I can and to those folks I care about. Like a race horse having lived fully then to pasture and finally just falling instantly dead.

Stress Part 1

For more than a year or so now my health quest has grown and one aspect that I knew I wanted to know more of is stress. It will be in segments as I've amassed too much material and further condensing and clarification is needed for future blogs. Also, the ramifications of stress is far reaching and bigger than I had ever thought of thus must devote more time studying, thinking about it. We're confronted with stress all the time, good and bad stress and how to beneficially live with it for optimum health is the goal here. Stress is normal, keeps us alive. It's chronic stress particularly chronic emotional stress that this blog is all about. Eating bad foods causing chronic stress must be the first step to fix before anything else as I've discussed, read my earlier blogs for details on that. OK, ready to share my insights now.

Free-Will

To cure emotional chronic stress in one's life, one simply must think. There you have the answer. " Really", you say? That's what I said, too in my not so distant past. Not only will emotional chronic stress go away but life becomes more meaningfully purposeful in the direction that you've envisioned it to be. Mnnnnnnn, what a concept, meaningfully purposeful as opposed to an emotionally driven randomness without direction. But one must choose to think and your chronic emotional stress is bye-bye gone. My play on words here, "I think, therefore I know." If you don't think, emotions take charge. So think, as it's our only given choice in life. Man's only free-will, an inherently human bio-psycho function that must be done and used whenever one is awake. The alternative, default, lazy state is being idle-minded, allowing the subconscious emotional side to take over and wander about aimlessly. Thinking is not automatic and that's the problem, it's an effort to engage our gray-matter to focus and think. It's a repetitive effort once awake that one must partake in to shoo-away bad stress. Thinking elevated us from all the other creatures but sadly most of us have remained in the low to average rungs of being the supreme human species that we truly are. We are all geniuses when we totally, 100% adhere to the aspect of our conscious thinking process in the pursuit of the truth as human beings living on this earth. The subconscious aspect of our thinking process is a mere estimate of reality. To put it in another way, it's mainly the emotional aspect of our personality, giving us an indication, only a hint of reality. We feel the emotion alright but taking an immediate reaction from it is not a good idea in my book because it may just be from false assumptions. A while back I read or perhaps saw on TV a story of a police officer mistakenly shooting an undercover cop. Apparently as I recall, the undercover cop, gun pointed at and on top of the criminal on the ground didn't get the chance to arrest the bad guy as he was shot by the police officer on obviously false assumption as being the bad guy. Just imagine the emotional tension, (stress), going on there by all parties involved and sometimes emotions are true but other times they're not which is my point here. I must add though, when in extreme danger, life or death, I think that the choice to act instantaneously takes precedence for life preservation, run or fight. That's precisely how the survival mechanism is happening within us all. Unbeknownst by us for the most part are countless of tasks performed in the body for our survival as detected, integrated then communicated for action by our mind, e. g., breathing, digesting, info gathering by our senses and so on. Our genome paved the way for these tasks but through our senses we can program and reprogram the mind. It's a good idea to stick with reality, i. e., facts when programming the mind. That only happens when we summon our forgotten best friend in the world, our free-will to think in accordance with reality. I said forgotten because free-will, the choice to think consciously as the core programmer of our mind is not well known. We are the exception, as we're no longer ignorant, we have the power if we so choose to use it. To totally embrace our conscious mind to conform to the facts of reality and thereby having the possibility of a non-contradictory harmonious life on this earth, is the antidote of emotional chronic stress. We must turn-on the brain-switch of our conscious mind to further assess fact from fiction before taking action. It's all we have going for us in sensibly going forward in our lives. Think of the alternative of not thinking on a conscious level? Is it even possible, you bet, it's the default state of an emotionally driven lifestyle, it's the easy, lazy side of us. I was one, too, of not being even aware of the differences between our subconscious emotional side and our logical, rational conscious side. Being aware that we possess the power as far as thinking, namely, our free-will to think or not to think, is huge as to chronic stress prevention. Life takes on a meaningfully purposeful path, like being on a high on living and not escaping from reality at all. Once directly connected to reality, our conscious mind turned-on, we find ourselves in our rightful place. But we're human and must make that extra effort of turning on the switch of our thinking conscious mind to be able to live in the environment we're in. Making the effort in choosing to think once awake is not only proper but a chronic stress reliever. The default state is our subconscious mind or emotional being at work. Emotions solely used as a guide in our lives, induces stress to chronic proportions hence poor health. Our emotional side taken as the exclusive source for living is what you see all over today, in the past and unfortunately still and will prevail. We've been following our emotions all our lives and perhaps aren't aware of an alternative way of thinking. We've all heard it all said before," follow your heart", "follow your instincts", "go by your gut feelings", "what comes around goes around" and others which are all emotionally driven statements because they're not reality driven by our conscious objective side. The saying ought to be, " follow your conscious mind," and evil stress fades away. Emotions are generalizations of fact, meaning, they're not necessarily factual. Our emotions are all of the accumulated information from our senses since birth stored in our memory banks. Whatever information we've been exposed to as early as being in the womb to birth to now from our senses through our subconscious and conscious minds created our uniqueness, our very own personality. Love, hate, fear, anger, anxiety, you name it are some of the real emotional feelings we've experienced often as human beings. These as well as all the other emotions when left alone within our subconscious mind and not filtered through our conscious mind for validity is the primary cause of chronic stress for most. The reason is because emotions, may not be tied to reality therefore a contradiction. Solve the contradiction, you solve the stress. Contradictions in one's life is removed by......thinking or exercising our free-will, turning the switch on of the conscious mind to focus and decipher the issue then proceeding to act or not. We're fallible and for sure not omniscient but the chances of answers to be found are better when we engage our conscious mind, i. e., think.  Keep asking why till you uncover the truth and also when seriously fact-finding that our conscious mind could not solve, seek out experts on the field. Hopefully these experts you employ are reality based practitioners because most aren't and they got us here. But you know better because you're a thinking being all the time and never will stop asking, why? By asking why, we've turned on the conscious mind to think. A child says why all the time, you can bet that his conscious mind is at work. Just keep asking why till you find the answer, use up all of your resources at hand and when it's important enough find experts to help. Often answers are not yet available but at least you've reconciled that and can move on. In other words, adhere to reality and chronic stress cannot exist. Adhere to unreality and you're a basket case. I am emboldened in saying that to encourage meaningfully purposeful thinking for alleviating stress. With stress levels under control, our health is better and life has a chance to be the way it was meant to be in its full grandeur. Fear not in asking, why, why and why all the time till it's clear so that the path to reality in this world unfolds itself. Don't ever stop asking why, as it's the best way in alleviating chronic stress. Always have a big question mark, ?, and find the root of it first-hand. Question everything and find the truth in order for neurons to propagate correctly and serving us better and better in the right direction. I know, I was meaningfully purposefully redundant because it's so important to understand my point. Once ingrained on thinking objectively or consciously all the time, it becomes easier. There's a lesser need for escaping from reality but embracing it fully when we think and know why. Embracing reality, the truth, facts, logic, reason must be 100% and can't be contaminated at all as it will crumble and induce bad stress. It can't even be 99.999% pure as that .001% contaminant will have to be integrated by our conscious mind as an irrationality in thought process. Free the mind of contaminants for a stress free zone, better serving all for their best interest, unencumbered by false irrational assumptions leading to the best possible life. Oh boy, watch those neurons grow, (neurogenesis), transforming your brain into a fine-tuned machine that knows how to keep you optimally healthy. One must be immaculate, 100%, in order to be high on life and living, my choice for a recreational drug. Emotional chronic stress conquered by being the supreme human being, that we truly all are. So......think, make that choice!
Subconscious=emotion= chronic stress. Conscious=rational=normal stress.

This blog is not all mine so will share references in the future. The relationship of emotional chronic stress and the thinking process, i. e., conceptualization, for optimum health is original as far as I could find.

After reading this, I hope that the big, WHY, popped-in because the thinking gear kicked-in. It's human to be curious and reconciliation will come about only when, we Think! Accepting something without validation is where most find themselves in today. All I have to say is that a more meaningfully purposeful life is possible for all when guided strictly by reason. In closing, capture that child-like wonderment and ask why for anything less is boring and perhaps senseless.

Train Wreck

Just imagine that you're on a railroad track and a train is fast approaching, depending on your beliefs, perhaps you'll say, “ it's not real but only an illusion” or perhaps you'll just ignore the imminent danger and do not care or perhaps you'll immediately see the danger and jump off the tracks at the last moment to safety. The example above is as obvious as 2+2=4 and that we'd all jump off to safety at different times. Unfortunately there are concepts that are not as obvious yet or self evident. They're buried in so many muddled maze of false assumptions, unhealthy family traditional practices, propaganda and vested interests by big pharmaceuticals, big business and big government. So we rely on science for discerning fact from falsehood. So we rely on trustworthy biohackers. Ultimately we rely on ourselves and so we biohack. We are all biohackers in my opinion. We've tried different foods, drugs, exercises, medications, meditations, followed a book we've read or mom's or your doctor's advice and or heaven forbid the USDA. In doing so we've either gotten healthier or degraded in health or survived somehow. That's biohacking in essence. That all powerful train fully loaded with misinformation is moving, faster and faster and mowing down any misguided ignorant by-standers on its' tracks. I am not exaggerating. We're the surviving victims of that train wreck. There's time to slow down this train from inflicting further suffering or worse death on it's path. There's compelling scientific evidence now before this train wrecks us completely but we must act now. Our health in my opinion is worth the effort and it's up to us to follow the best science now available for guidance in order to slow this train down and just maybe succeeding and bringing it to a complete halt, wishful thinking on my part. I have decided to side with science and the studies that these scientists have done. When the science is not yet available, I've sided with biohacking myself and those biohackers whom I've come to trust. So, I ask, “ when are you going to jump off those railroad tracks for your well being and better health?”

I will name some of the biggest sources fueling this run-away train that is threatening our well being. These trains have been inflicting suffering and death in numbers that's staggering. I can say that because the whole world consumes carbs and grains of which are greatly contributing to the human health degradation. I'm urging you to read the science available now or at least biohack immediately.

At the end of this blog I will provide links on the subject matter.

Remove carbohydrates from your diet. We do not need it. At the very least minimize total carbs at a very small 2 digit number in grams per day. Carbs, (carbohydrates), is processed by our system into simple sugars called glucose that feed our cells. Glucose being highly inflammatory as a fuel source for our brain/body is prematurely aging us or to put it literally, slowly devastating our body. It's slowly frying our brain and body to put it bluntly. The train may be moving slowly with carbs but it's destroying us bit by bit right now.

Do your own biohacking or research or read my first blog post, My Start, for additional information.

Remove grains containing gluten from your diet. Gluten-free is not a fad that's going away soon. It's going to be just like trans-fats or hydrogenated oils finally being recognized by our FDA just recently as bad, bad, bad after more than a decade of lobbying by caring scientists and biohackers. Science on grains is here. It's not only for those gluten-sensitive people but one and all. It's bad for everyone. It's a train wreck at our very midst. It doesn't only destroy the gut but the brain as well. I didn't know that whole wheat bread has such a high glycemic index, a slice has about 73 while a Snickers candy bar has about 48. Glycemic Index is glucose elevation or the blood sugar rise measurement after consuming certain foods. As you can see the Glycemic Index of whole grain's up there where not many foods are that high. Glucose has a Glycemic Index reading of 100. No wonder, we're literally barbecuing ourselves internally by consuming foods of a very high Glycemic Index. Furthermore, there's now a protein called Zonulin that's being used as a biomarker of gut permeability and now also involved in the permeability of the blood-brain barrier. Zonulin seems to be unique in only the human species. In general as I understand it, Zonulin releases in the small intestine upon detection of bacterial impurities that then opens the tight junction cell walls for water to enter to flush the bacterial impurity away, after Zonulin depletion these tight junction walls revert back to normal. That's good and normal but the problem's when these tight junction walls or gut doors remain open abnormally longer than necessary because of the abundance of Zonulin. Impurities then pass through into our small gut and bang,,, the pattern develops, triggering our autoimmune system, the train wreck, attacking, devouring our own self, literally. It attacks our pancreas or maybe our thyroids you name it. Difficult to fathom the idea of self-destruction but that's our autoimmune system at work ironically trying to keep us alive. In simplistic terms from my own comprehension, grains with gluten once eaten causes a Zonulin-like effect which opens the tight gut cell wall junctions, as well as causing permeability of the blood-brain barrier because it contains Gliadin that mimics Zonulin. Amazing finding, that Gliadin, a component of gluten, having the same effect as our human natural protein Zonulin. Can you imagine the wide ranging negative implications of gluten on our brain and body? There's no cure to date from my research except of course by the total elimination of gluten containing grains or foods. Carbs + Grains containing gluten is deadly and must be removed permanently from our diet. Remember too that grains are so high in glycemic index that consider it, if nothing else, as having very high carbs. It's been the 2 biggest loads fueling that train, wrecking our health for a long time. It's time to vanish them away permanently from our diet. I'm afraid that it's not going away any time soon as people remain ignorant and the demand remains strong.

For me explaining something in a few paragraphs doesn't do justice to the work done by the scientists that took years and billions of dollars to do. I intended to only show highlights in as simple a manner as I could make it.

Simplify

                                                                  Simplicity

It's easier than you think, just simplify everything. Remove a complexity from your life by starting right now. Identify a complexity and start with that till it's gone. Mind you, this requires a strict acceptance of reality thus making you a rational person. Just face reality head-on and accept it. You now have all the tools to solve your problems. You can now proceed to solve the complexities that you find yourself in. Name a complexity in your life and solve it, it's that simple.

I might add some very simple key rational virtues that cannot be violated if you are a rational person.

Independence
Integrity
Honesty
Justice
Productiveness
Pride

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

My Start

I started by looking for exercise routines for the elderly from the web. I used Google search and Wikipedia a lot. I spent time on body building web sites, their forums, podcasts, medical studies and any site related to my search on exercise for the elderly. My searches gave me a general knowledge, not only about exercises but health, too. As I got more educated after several months of research, it no longer became just exercises for the elderly but overall health for me and for everyone I cared about. Health of body, including the brain means proper nutrition and exercise. Health of mind means; controlling stress by strictly adhering to reason as a guide to action and not via negative emotions. Positive, benevolent contemplative emotional state of being is great. Being aware that mysteries abound in health matters as in life but in time the mind will be able to unlock them. Remember just like when the earth was perceived as flat and now really round. I had to learn some metabolism and a little basic bio-chemistry out of necessity for better understanding. I dug deeper until I was satisfied that I had reached with some certainty of the validity of my findings. There’s so much yet that are unknown in health of our body and mind, not to mention the misinformation out there that interpreting the truth is not easy. The lies, half truths and at times I think deliberately perpetrated is causing great harm to our health. What I have uncovered opened my eyes enough that I had to make drastic changes as to my health. I was slowly poisoning myself thinking it was for my health. At this point in my health study I was feeling so frustrated. We will all succumb to an ending and the process of that ending is being made harder and quicker thanks to the whole health industry, meaning big pharmaceuticals, national health agencies and government food agencies. Government, yes, political affiliations notwithstanding, Uncle Sam advising us on food, nutrition or health and it's not working. But, I must keep positive as stress is not a good thing. At least I found out now and maybe enough time to undo the damages that I had done to my health, thinking it was all good or at least not harmful. I no longer look at food nor exercise the same way. I had to change the way I eat and exercise out of necessity. I felt like belonging to a flock of sheep following blindly on supposedly the right way on being healthy but no longer. I am taking charge of my own health. I also decided to inform people, especially those that I care about of my discoveries that they too will benefit. I wanted to get the information out right away because in my mind it’s an urgent matter. When it comes to our health, we’re really alone if we want to get it right. We must not allow misinformation and outright deception in guiding us. Hoping to inspire relatives and friends to study and start implementing healthier means of living, asap! Information is out there for free; do not take my word for it. Thank goodness for the internet. It’s up to you to decipher the truth from fiction. By eating right, adding some proper bodily movement and using the mind as a tool of cognition towards action apart from always being too emotionally driven is the recipe for a happy, long vigorous healthy life and is possible to all of us to the very end.

Warning this is not mainstream. It’s concise and general on purpose because it would had been too technical and difficult to comprehend otherwise. The contents are direct and true from the studies done, using deductive logic and corroboration with others I've begun to trust. If you want more info on anything I’ve stated here do let me know as I’m only making you aware of the pertinent main points.  Let’s begin with proper nutrition because without it exercise is futile.

Sugars, starches or carbohydrate foods are bad. The human body can subsist healthily without eating carbohydrates. Other examples of carbohydrates; pasta, grain, bread, candy, soda, flour, pancakes, popsicles, pop-tarts, cereals, fruits (fresh and canned), even some vegetables are high in carbs like potatoes, peas, and corn. Carbohydrates are in almost all foods except meats and cheeses. Here’s a more complete list if you like to know and their gram count per serving,
http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list. If you can’t eliminate carbs at all , I know hard to do but at least minimize it to 2 digits in grams like 99 grams per day and you’ll be healthier. Within the body carb triggers the hormone glucose which is food for our cells that the hormone insulin enables, so why eliminate it? Because the proteins we eat could also be converted to glucose in the body which is the healthier process. The carb induced glucose/insulin fuel source for the body is OK, a low grade but inflammatory source of fuel long term. Healthy saturated fats should really be our primary food source. Yes, contrary to everything out there but it’s the preferred food for our brain and body. When the body runs out of glucose there’s the stored food, called glycogen that it starts to use then into fatty acids, making ketone bodies. These ketone bodies are the preferred food source for the cells of our body and brain. Talk about fat burning, the preferred way to be. Cycling from glucose to ketone bodies for cell food happens in a Paleo,(Paleolithic), low carb high fat, (LCHF), to no carb diets and is our genetic default state. If you want your body to run better use primarily healthy saturated fats as the upgraded, preferred fuel source about 60-75% the rest vegetables and little fruits of servings per day. More elaboration of the above from links I will provide for you in the end. Very low to no carbs, (Ketogenic Diet) will lead to ketosis and is the ideal state for us and very safe but for the few people that can’t produce insulin, type-I diabetics. Ketoacidosis may occur for these folks because the brain looks for glucose/insulin initially for the few adaptive days before running on primarily ketones and even type-II diabetics produce enough insulin. It took a while for me to understand the above summary that ketosis and it's ketones, (fatty acids), is the state that the cell's power plant called the mitochondria loves. Getting into ketosis is not difficult if health is a motivation as it was for me. One get's into ketosis by minimizing carbs to 20 grams or less per day, that's it. Again, glucose is OK but ill effects will manifest themselves later if not sooner in life. I suppose time is the final arbiter but I can't afford to gamble my health away especially when clear evidence is available.

For the white rice eaters remember a cup of cooked rice has 45 grams of carb so be careful. White rice is a little milder than most grains but moderation is in order here.

A special mention to coconut oil because I keep hearing wonderful things about it. It is one of the best sources of saturated fats there is and the fats are the medium chained triglycerides, (MCT), which is easily converted to ketones by the liver for cell consumption. Ketones are the clean high octane fuel source our cells love. OK, I biohacked, I have been taking about 2 table spoons per day along with grass fed butter with my coffee and the results have been very positive. Before I eat anything in the morning I have it with my coffee and I do not feel hungry till late afternoons. There were times that I fasted till dinner because I just wasn't hungry and felt strong and more alert. I'm upping the quantity to 3 table spoons and see how my mind/body functions. It's a mild laxative for some, so minimize some till the adaptive process sets in. Coconut oil is great as a sunscreen, too, my choice. It has been known to have cured dementia, alzheimer, autism, type-II diabetes and many others though I must say here that I didn't find any scientific studies out there for validation. It makes sense though because when one becomes brain insulin resistant, no glucose food, like in dementia folks, why not feed the brain ketones?

My quote, “An avocado a day beats an apple any-day“, (AAADBAAA).  Another source of healthy saturated fats.

Grass fed beef, lamb is to a point of extinction, the very source of a healthy paleo fuel source. Butter from grass fed cows is a must have healthy saturated fat food source. Today and forever grains are food for these animals because farmers are subsidized and are tied in with the usual governmental agencies and  their cronies, big pharma and big business. Highly genetically modified corn and soy extensively are animal foods of today because of the profit margin. These grains produce bigger animals but a very poor quality of meat and dairy products. Other uses of these grains are oils and high fructose corn syrup, (HFCS). They’re everywhere and they’re bad.

Now the exercise part but again, get the nutritional aspect going first before exercising. I’ll try not to get too technical but some information is needed in order to understand some matters like our muscle fibers. It is generally accepted that muscle fiber types can be broken down into two main types: slow twitch (Type I) muscle fibers and fast twitch (Type II) muscle fibers. Fast twitch fibers can be further categorized into Type IIa and Type IIb fibers. The fast twitch muscle fibers (Type IIb) for most adults aren’t used. They’re atrophying or especially the elderly have perhaps atrophied all together, hence their lack of balance or overall weakness. The human body has about an even distribution of slow and fast twitch muscle fibers so the elderly is using only about half of their muscle groups. Little emphasis on exercising the fast twitch fibers for anyone really exception Teri of course and also body builders or the elite athletes. The fast twitch fiber is the anaerobic group, which does not use oxygen to function unlike the slow twitch muscle fibers that use oxygen, (aerobic). One could do an aerobic exercise all day long and will not touch the fast twitch muscle fibers. It’s a major problem in this aerobic crazed world. “Cardio” as an aerobic exercise as it's sometimes called is a fallacy. I went on looking for a way to revive the atrophied fast twitch muscle fibers for the elderly and almost lost hope. To revive the fast twitch muscle fibers one must do resistance training involving at least 65-80% of one’s repeat maximum weight. That’s not feasible for the already weakened elderly. Then I ran into KAATSU, a Japanese blood flow restriction method and from their published studies show a lot of promise in accessing the fast twitch fibers with little effort. I got fascinated but ran into roadblocks as the patent is held by Japan and no market here in the US. Getting the Kaatsu equipment is not easy as it involves training. I wrote to them and I was told that an E-learning course will be made available soon and then one could purchase the equipment for use. That’s the extent of that so proceeded to search more on how to best exercise a persons fast twitch fibers. Here’s where I found a Doug McGuff, learned about the fallacy of cardio, (aerobic), exercise. He wrote a book called, Body by Science. I learned of very slow resistance training and the way to have a recuperative time frame after a proper exercise routine. According to Dr.McGuff aerobic exercise doesn’t access the fast twitch muscle fibers. Aerobic exercise only uses the slow twitch muscle fibers. McGuff’s point is to do a very slow resistance training for 12-20 mins of exercise once a week only and it is comparable to doing an aerobic training for an hr and a half without the strain of injury or getting hungry. The elderly of course will do exercises to their limits very slowly until the feeling of fatigue sets in, lactic acid release then hold for 2-3 seconds more, and stop. His book, Body by Science, and web site has all the details. I was somewhat relieved at this point,  ah a stress reliever,  in finding out that the elderly could indeed salvage those dormant fast twitch fibers and improve tremendously in strength. It's a good way to exercise for all, I think. I believed McGuff  when he said that one could never exercise oneself out of a bad diet.

My main recommendations are as follows;

Eat paleo style just like our hunter-gatherer ancestors did for millions of years. Our genome type was developed in such a world. About 60% healthy fats and split the remaining difference on animal proteins, vegetables and a little fruit. Avoid sugars, starches, processed foods, milk, cheese, soy and grains.
Intermittent fasting is healthy and comes naturally in ketosis. I take my healthy coffee in the morning and wait till I get hungry and it's usually 6-8 hrs later but sometimes not till about 10-12 hrs later and that's the fasting that I do. It happens about twice a week.
Most are deficient but take and try balancing your vitamin “D”. 20 mins of sun a day, no sunscreen please, will suffice on major skin surfaces plus supplements .
Salt is not bad as generally accepted and believed especially mineral loaded sea salts or those mined.
Do slow short resistance exercises to a point of fatiguing up to 2-3 secs, the major muscle groups then stopping right away for a total of 12-20 mins and rest for a week or so. High intensity interval training, (HIT), if you prefer is OK provided there's little jarring movement as in running on hard surfaces and with adequate rest.
Reduce stress as much as possible, be more positive, massage therapy, spiritual meditation, listen to a favorite singer/music, epsom salt baths, own a dog, barefoot walk on grass or the beach, benevolence and so on and on balances the stress hormone cortisol.

Teri and I are just feeling great and if we do not eat or drink all the foods that you might have to offer us in the future do not take offense and when you come to share a meal with us we will accommodate everybody in the best way possible. .
